LOCKDOWN shunners Sweden sets another daily COVID-19 case record as the virus begins to sweep the Swedish streets.

Health Agency statistics showed on Thursday, October 29, the country registered 2,820 new coronavirus cases on Wednesday, October 28, which was the highest since the pandemic began, and also the third record number in a matter of days.

It shows that no country is being spared the effects of Sars-cov-2 as it continues to spread across Europe and causes havoc to its residents, resulting in violent protests in some.

However, despite another daily COVID-19 case record, Sweden is not experiencing the same high numbers as other countries but its hospitals are starting to struggle with the extra increase in patients.

Chief Epidemiologist Anders Tegnell told a news conference:

“We’re beginning to approach the ceiling for what the healthcare system can handle. Together, as during the spring, we can push down this curve and avoid the strain on healthcare.”

Sweden registered 7 new deaths, taking the total to 5,934. Sweden’s death rate per capita is several times higher than Nordic neighbours, but lower than some larger European countries, such as Spain and Britain.
