Lights, camera, action! Man caught speeding says he was about to miss a film

LIGHTS, camera, action! Man caught speeding out of a tunnel at 137mph (220km/h) by police says he was about to miss a film!

33-year-old Azzedin Khan from London Colney, in Hertfordshire, thankfully didn’t hurt anyone as he sped out of the Hatfield Tunnel on the A1(M) last November.

Khan was driving a leased Range Rover when he was spotted by an unmarked police car speeding along the A414 at about 8.45pm.

The officer who caught Khan speeding thought that he had stolen it or had been involved in a burglary, however when questioned, Mr. Khan said “he was about to miss a film.”

According to prosecutor Stefan Weidmann, Khan: “drove at astonishing speed, undertaking other cars and committed a blatant transgression of a red light.”

He pleaded guilty to dangerous driving and was jailed for six months.

At his sentencing at St Alban’s Crown Court, Judge Richard Foster said: “You were driving your expensive leased Range Rover in a most dangerous manner.

“The risk of someone being harmed was extremely high. A custodial sentence is inevitable.”

The Fast and Furious film fan was also banned from driving for two years and three months, and ordered to take an extended retest.
