British need to abide by rules

Experts have said that asking British to stay at home will not work as they do not abide by the rules, however, banning major events will stop it.

The previous R rate was between 1.3-1.5 which has seen dropped slightly. Scientists have disclosed that having gatherings of 10 people or 6 people cuts the rate by the same amount, so the ‘rule of six’ is in fact arbitrary.

The hardest issue to overcome is making the British follow the new strict laws. The biggest difference scientists have seen with the virus has been banning public events/gatherings, the R rate has dropped by 24% in almost a month. Along with closing down schools, the R rate also dropped by 15%, and the reopening of the schools showed a major increase in R rate.

It was shown in March when Britain had the lockdown that there was a 75% drop in the R rate as people had to abide by the rules as the virus was spreading so rapidly. Wales have gone into a 17-day ‘firebreak’ lockdown to stop the spread of COVID-19. Britain has new restrictions that the people will have to abide by or they will not see a decrease in the virus.
