Breaking News – West Yorkshire to be forced into Tier 3 lockdown

WEST Yorkshire will be placed under Tier 3 coronavirus restrictions from Monday, November 2.

The region, which includes Leeds, Bradford and Huddersfield, will be subject to the country’s toughest Covid-19 restrictions as a result of the change.

The decision forces another 2.3million people into Tier 3 lockdown, bringing the total number hit by the tightest restrictions in England to 11million.

Pubs and bars will now be forced to close in West Yorkshire unless they serve ‘substantial’ meals, along with a range of other restrictions.

Casinos, betting shops and soft play areas are just some of the businesses that will have to shut, although gyms can remain open.

Shisha will also no longer be allowed at bars in the area, but these premises can continue operating as cafes.

In a joint statement, West Yorkshire council leaders said the region is at a ‘critical juncture’ as the NHS is now starting to struggle to provide essential care.
