Half the Police Force in Rhonda Off Sick With COVID

Half of the Police force in Rhonda has contracted coronavirus with even the Mayor being infected himself.

The local government has ensured that services can be maintained after drafting in replacement officers from other departments. Juan Carlos González, municipal delegate of Security of the City of Ronda, Marbella, Spain, announced on Monday that it was a COVID-19 outbreak between a group of seven officers of the Local Police that caused more than half of the staff to be struck down with the disease.

Those seven who tested positive were soon joined by another 17 who have had direct contact with them, leaving another dozen officers being sent home to self-isolate. Figures that added to the other casualties for unrelated reasons to the coronavirus have led to 50% of the officers being unable to work. In addition, three other police officers are waiting to know the result of their test results.

The City Council has disinfected the Local Police and also the vehicles that the officers used as a security measure. It was also announced that this week a local security meeting will take place to analyze the situation the city is faced. The curfew has just come into force that will require a full complement of staff- given this situation, the local government of Ronda assured the local inhabitants that they will have the collaboration of the National Police and the Civil Guard to help out and enforce the curfew.
