THE Benalmadena Council has recognised and congratulated one resident who has celebrated her hundredth birthday and paid tribute to all of the elderly residents of the town who have done so much to make it what it is today.

Mayor Victor Navas as well as the Councillor for the Elderly Irene Díaz and a representative of Malaga Province welcomed the son and granddaughter of centenarian Francisca Salguero González and presented them with a special plaque noting her special day.

“It is a pertinent and necessary tribute to our elderly people, to all that they have worked for and suffered so that we can enjoy the rights, comforts and freedoms that we have today,” said Navas.
