Breaking: Police in Manchester Issue First Tier 3 £10,000 Party fine

A Party organiser in Manchester has been fined £10,000 for hosting an event with 50 guests.

The fine is one of the first one’s to be handed out under the new Tier three restrictions in the area. Officers were called to the large gathering on Simpson Street in Angel Meadows, which is northeast of the city centre, just after 11.20 pm on Friday night.

On arrival, they found DJ mixing decks, an industrial speaker setup and a large buffet. The organiser was immediately handed the maximum fine for the breach of coronavirus legislation. A total of 52 fines have so far been handed out since Greater Manchester went into the highest level of alert on Friday.

Chief Constable Mabs Hussain, Assistant of Greater Manchester Police, called the party “a blatant disregard of the rules and for public health” and said it was “totally unacceptable in the current crisis”. He said he hopes the issuing of the maximum penalty would act as a warning to anyone else considering flouting the rules.
