Pope may have been exposed to Covid-19

FEARS that the Pope may have been exposed to Covid-19 after meeting with diplomat who later tested positive.

Australian media reported on Friday, October 23 that Pope Francis had a meeting with Archbishop Adolfo Tito Yllana, the Holy See’s ambassador to Australia on October 6. The ambassador tested positive for coronavirus less than two weeks later, sparking fears that the Pope may have been exposed to the virus.

Although Australian authorities have confirmed that a diplomat returning to Sydney on October 9 had tested positive, they haven’t revealed his identity.

Pope Francis has long been criticised for his disregard for his own safety; not wearing a mask or social distancing, even kissing people’s hands. However, Francis, now 83, appears to be taking the risks more seriously, as he was seen wearing a mask in public for the first time on Tuesday, October 20.

Pope Francis is especially vulnerable to Covid because of his age, weight and lung condition that he has suffered since childhood.

Twenty-seven people residing in the Vatican City are reported to have contracted the virus, 11 of those member of the Swiss Guard, the world’s smallest army of just 100, whose sole responsibility it is to protect the Pope.
