EasyJet Ramps up Canary Islands Flights after ‘surge of demand’

EasyJet has ramped up its Canaries capacity after a massive ‘surge of demand’.

EasyJet is putting more flights on sale to the Canary Islands in response to a surge in customer demand for flights and holidays after the archipelago was added to the UK travel corridors list. The company has announced that 180,000 additional seats are now available up to the end of March 2021, from Gatwick, Luton, Bristol, Manchester, Liverpool, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Belfast.

The low-cost airline is launching five new routes from Edinburgh to Lanzarote and Fuerteventura; from Glasgow to Tenerife and Gran Canaria; and from Belfast to Tenerife, with flights taking off from November 7. Routes due to launch this winter from Luton to Fuerteventura and Gran Canaria have now been brought forward to November 7.

Ali Gayward, UK country manager, said: “Since the government’s announcement last night we’ve already seen a surge of demand for flights and holidays to the Canary Islands – we’ve seen a 500% increase day on day on searches – so we know that there is customer demand, they want to travel and this demonstrates they will do so when travel restrictions are relaxed.”
