Police officer dad arrested while performing exorcism on his son

POLICE officer dad arrested as he arms his daughter with a rifle while performing an exorcism on his son.

Christopher Dougherty, 37, was arrested over the weekend at his home in Orange County, Florida. He was first taken to hospital and arrested shortly afterwards on Sunday, October 18.

When police arrived at the house, Dougherty’s young daughter told them her dad had armed her with a rifle, bulletproof vest and Kevlar helmet. He allegedly told her to lie on the floor in the bedroom and shoot anyone who arrived, as he tried to perform an exorcism on his son who was ‘full of demons’

Dougherty was also fired from his job on the same day for “an unsatisfactory performance finding in a separate matter.”

Sheriff John Mina said in a statement: “While this deputy was terminated for a pattern of unsatisfactory performance, these are very serious criminal allegations.

“As law enforcement officers, we are held to the highest standards of conduct whether on duty or off duty.

“But we are also concerned about the deputy’s mental health,” he added.
