At least 12 injured in New York school bus crash

AT least 12 people are injured and a 6-year-old child is in critical condition after a New York school bus crash.

Three people are in critical condition, including a 6-year-old child, after a school bus from Little Britain Elementary School in New Windsor, 66 miles from New York City, collided with a truck.

The incident took place at around 8:30am local time on Wednesday, October 21. The truck, said to be owned by a tree trimming company, appears to have crossed over Route 207 into the wrong lane, according to the New Windsor Police Department. A third vehicle is also thought to have been involved.

Drivers of both vehicles are among those rushed to hospital, while a six-year-old girl was “pinned behind the bus driver”, according to a report on ABC.

Her family has told the network, however, “she will recover” and is in a critical but stable condition.

A total of eight pupils were on board, with the other seven able to walk off the bus before being taken to St Luke’s Hospital in Newburgh.
