ARMY unveils new bug-like drone at Salisbury Plain.

The tiny drone, which can conduct surveillance as well as carry different messages, weighs 191 grams and can travel at 80 kilometres an hour. It was displayed as part of the Ministry of Defence’s plan to show the benefits of using technology to develop a stronger Armed Forces.

A bug-like drone that can withstand winds of 40 knots has been unveiled by the Defence Secretary as part of a new strategy to put technology at the heart of the battlefield.

Mr Wallace, who has previously warned of the threats faced by the UK from China and Russia, both in cyber and space, added: “We are in a very real race with our adversaries for technological advantage.

“Proliferation of new technologies demands our science and technological technologies to be threat-driven and better aligned to our future needs. What we do today will lay the groundwork for the decades to come,” he said.
