The First same-sex pairing on Strictly Come Dancing

The First same-sex pairing on Strictly Come Dancing has been revealed.

Former Olympian gold medalist, Nicola Adams, took to the dance floor with professional dancer Katya Jones making a historic debut for the show.

The pair performed as part of a group with 11 other celebrity contestants including actress Caroline Quentin and Comedian Bill Bailey.

Due to social distancing rules, the show is looking very different this year with the couples performing in their own bubbles and performed in front of a socially distanced audience.

Jones said, “I think the beauty of this partnership is it’s never been done before on Strictly so basically we are free to do what we want, there are no real rules.”

The BBC has had to defend its move to allow same-sex couples after last year’s one-off performance of two male dancers received numerous complaints from viewers.

Bosses at the show commented the Strictly is an “inclusive” show and were more than happy to have Nicola Adams perform with a female dancer.
