PONIENTE FIREFIGHTERS: Four thermal cameras will assist them in their work Credit: Consorcio de Bomberos del Poniente

THE Poniente Consortium of Fire Brigades now has four thermal cameras.
“Mainly they will detect the presence of people in fires that have produced a great deal of smoke,” the Consortium’s president, Jose Juan Rodriguez explained.
“Thanks to their multiple options and thermal levels, the cameras can also detect gas leaks and similar hazards,” he added.
The cameras will make firefighters’ tasks more easy, providing them with extra safety in their principal mission of extinguishing fires and other operations that could necessitate the cameras.
The Ejido, Roquetas and Canjayar brigades will each have permanent use of at least one of the cameras, Rodriguez said.
