Husband told wife and three children have died

A young husband has been told his wife and three of his children have died in a horrific traffic accident.

John Powell, 30, and his 18-month-old daughter were said to be in a critical but stable condition at John Radcliffe Hospital after a horror crash on the A40 which took the life of his wife Zoe and three of their children, Phoebe, 8, Amelia, 4, and Simeon, 6.

The young husband woke up to the tragic news, according to a source at his local church in Chinnor.

“Josh is aware of the circumstances, the really tragic situation, and he is devastated but he’s got a young baby to look after and he will hopefully pick up for this new life,” the source told the Daily Mail.

The Powell family were travelling on the A40 when their people carrier collided with a heavy goods vehicle near Oxford.

A fundraising page has been set up Josh’s work colleague Andrew Welsford following the tragedy and has already raised more than £50’000.
