Ryanair blames government mismanagement for flight capacity cuts

FLIGHT capacity on Ryanair winter flights have had to be cut from 60% to 40% as the airline blames EU government mismanagement for cuts.

The Dublin-based carrier blamed EU governments for air travel mismanagement after increased restrictions have caused bookings to drop in October, and likely for November and December.

Ryanair chief executive Michael O’Leary said: “While we deeply regret these winter schedule cuts they have been forced upon us by government mismanagement of EU air travel.”

If further lockdowns and restrictions continue to be put in place by EU governments then Ryanair, who currently expect their full-year traffic to fall to 38 million, could see that number reduce dramatically.

Ryanair flights have been continually cut throughout the year due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Operating at a reduced frequency, the schedule for November to March will now see its winter flight schedule operate at 65% of its usual.
