UK set for coldest October on record with temperatures set to plunge below 0C, it may be early but it appears winter is coming, very soon!
WEATHER in the UK is set to take a colder turn with widespread frost being forecasted for the weekend and one bookmaker has slashed its odds for this being the coldest October on record.
Four days during the first 11 this month have already seen temperatures drop below zero and more sub-zero days are being predicted for later in the month.
October 2 saw the coldest day so far with the mercury at Shap in Cumbria falling to -2.4C (27.7F) and this has led bookmakers Coral to cut odds on this month beating the record.
The coldest October on record was 1917 and Coral are now offering 4-5 odds for that record to be beaten.
The betting industry giants are also offering 1-2 for snow to fall in the UK this month.
A spokesman for the company said: “Winter is set to arrive early this year and with temperatures falling fast over the next few days, the odds have been slashed on this month ending as the coldest October on record.”
