Hamilton’s win equals Schumacher’s record

Lewis Hamilton’s Eifel Grand Prix win equals Michael Schumacher’s record of 91 Formula One victories and leaves him in pole position to win another season.

BRITISH racer Lewis Hamilton cruised to victory in the Eifel Grand Prix to equal the amazing record of 91 Formula One winning races set by the legendary German driver, Michael Schumacher.

The win leaves Hamilton 69 points clear as he remains in pole position to win the season and close in on the German’s seven world championships.

Schumacher, who was seriously injured in a skiing accident in 2013, won the last of his 91 races over 14-years ago.

Stevenage boy Hamilton has gained mainstream media attention for his antics away from the track but in his 14 seasons as a Formula One racer he has proved a major success.

He now leads Mercedes team-mate Valtteri Bottas by 69 points following today’s result, with 11 of the 17 rounds completed.
