THE regional government impounded 3,680 tons of different types of edible mushrooms that were picked in Almeria province last year.
Sources at the Junta’s Agriculture, Cattle, Fisheries and Sustainable Development delegation revealed that most of the mushrooms were confiscated because the amounts collected exceeded permitted quotas.  Others had been extracted using unauthorised methods.
Eighty-six fines ranging from €60 to €600 were issued in 2019, although this was roughly half of the previous year’s, as low rainfall affected growth.
