La Mata is having to adapt this year’s Patron festivities due the coronavirus, although they are not letting the pandemic put an end to all activities.

THE Patron festivities will take place in the assembly hall of the Peripheral City Hall of La Mata, in honour of the Virgin of the Rosary, and will run from October 1 to 7.
Although not the typical celebrations, some activities will also take place in the Plaza de Encarnación Puchol, with a restricted capacity of 258 seats being made available to follow the necessary restrictions.
Invitations for these events can be collected at La Mata Town Hall until Wednesday, September 28, from 12pm to 2pm, and on the day of the event scheduled one hour before the show at the venue.
A maximum of two tickets per person will be delivered, with those wanted to attend having to provide their name and phone number.
The yearly tradition of the Magna Procession has sadly been suspended this year as a result of Covid-19 regulations, however, a parade will be held on Wednesday, October 7 at 7pm concluded by a performance from the Ciudad de Torrevieja Musical Society “Los Saleroso” at 8pm.
After the concert, a Solemn Mass will be held in honour of the Virgin of the Rosary, presided over by Francisco Isidro Hernández Escamilla, parish priest of the Risen Christ and will be followed by the fantastic Fireworks Castle.
