Junta de Andalucia considering further restriction for the region, Credit - Twitter
The president of the Junta de Andalucía, Juanma Moreno, claims he would consider bringing in further COVID-19 restrictions in the region if the figures and hospitalisations continue to rise through the end of September.
On Thursday, September 17, he expressed his concern over how the pandemic has evolved and with fear growing over the second wave arriving sooner than expected, Moreno advised against non-essential gatherings, even those with relatives “whenever possible”.
While some of the figures this week have reached all-time highs, the pressure on the hospitals is actually much lower than it was in March and April when almost 3,000 people with COVID-19 could be in the hospital at any one time.
On Tuesday September, 22, the Junta activated its emergency plan to have 3,000 beds ready for COVID-19 patients if necessary in preparation for further hospitalizations as cases continue to rise.
