The 72nd Emmy Awards are finally upon us

The 72nd Emmy Awards are finally upon us, and the 2020 ceremony will be unlike any other. It will be hosted by familiar face Jimmy Kimmel for the third time.

Seeing as the COVID-19 pandemic has necessitated a virtual ceremony, everyone will be tuning in from home as the awards take place live from the Staples Centre in Los Angeles, but without an audience.

The ceremony will air live on Sunday, September 20, at 8pm in America and Monday, September 21, 1am UK time.

The 72nd Emmy Awards coverage will feature a new, socially distanced set and interviews with celebrities via video chat.  Typical pre-show elements like predictions for the major categories and interviews about upcoming projects will still be part of the process, only with a looser, “more spontaneous” feel than a traditional red carpet.
