IT looked like a case of ‘right place at the right time’ when boxing champs Chris Eubank and David Haye stepped in to help a lady who had been struck by a vehicle in London yesterday.
It was sheer coincidence that the two legends happened to be in the same area at the time of the incident.
Witnesses at the scene described how a Mercedes had hit the woman as she was crossing the road
Former world middleweight champion, Eubank described hearing a large bang whilst driving by in his Rolls Royce Wraith and stopped to see what the commotion was.
“I could see there was some kind of problem. I rushed to assist the girl. Her leg was hurting, but she was ok. My solicitor called 999 – but luckily there was an ambulance on the other side of the road so we flagged it down.”
Eubank went on to say that “Her mobile phone had been knocked out of her hand and had fallen under a car. I got on all fours and went under the car – I found it – I was frightened somebody may run it over.”
Heavyweight Haye, just happened to be walking by when he offered his help. “I was walking up to a meeting in Soho from the Park Plaza when I saw there had been a road incident, like anyone I wanted to check if everyone was ok and see if I could be of assistance,” he said
The driver of the vehicle that struck the woman also jumped out to see the woman was ok.
No arrests were made in response to the incident and the woman managed to get away with little injury. Luckily for her, the quick actions of the two men meant they were in the right place at the right time
