Beaches of Orihuela set curfew to avoid littering and large gatherings

Share

In measures to control littering and prevent large social gatherings, Orihuela City Council has imposed a curfew to its beaches, following recent outbreaks of the Covid-19 virus.

BEACHES will now be cordoned off and access will be prohibited after 1am to prevent nightlife taking to the sand following closures of pubs and nightclubs.

The curfew imposed by Orihuela City Council will see beaches reopen at 7am. The council is preparing to announce the immediate affect of this new measure as fears of further Covid-19 outbreaks heighten.

These measures will also help the amount of littering being done to the beach, in an effort to stop more environmental damage being done.

The Orihuela Local Police are set to ensure the compliance of the curfew to the beaches, with punishment to be enforced to those who do not comply with the rules.

Social gatherings that happen on the beaches after the curfew will be treated as a punishable offense.

The Councillor for Beaches and Citizen Security, Ramón López, has appealed to residents of Orihuela, and visitors to the area, “who up to now have fulfilled the majority [of the rules] but we must continue to comply with the measures to end this as soon as possible”.

These will hopefully mean a stop to the spread of Covid-19 through large social gatherings and stop littering from occurring on the beautiful beaches.
