ROQUETAS de Mar’s Local Police force has three new sets of wheels.
Roquetas Mayor Gabriel Amat and Local Police chief Miguel Angel Lopez Rivas did the honours of officially presenting the two vans and a patrol car on Sunday morning.
The vans are destined for the section of the service keeping an eye on the municipal beaches and looking out for compliance with Covid-19 prevention measures.
The patrol car is for the public safety unit.
Amat explained that the three vehicles are in addition to the 14 for the complete renewal of the Local Police fleet, which will include cars and motorbikes.
“We have made an agreement on three more vehicles to reinforce the service, work and management the Local Police are carrying out. Today we cover a necessary objective”, the Mayor commented.
Amat also took the opportunity to congratulate the local force on the job they are doing in the municipality “now more than ever.
“These are difficult, very delicate times, where they are always at the service of the public, achieving their objectives and ensuring compliance with health regulations.”
The order for the 14 vehicles to replace the existing fleet is currently in the process of being out to tender. The council said the cars will be hybrid and therefore more fuel efficient and less contaminating, and will be acquired on a renting basis to ensure the fleet is constantly updated.
