A new look ‘access for all’ Plaza de la Cruz has been unveiled in Orihuela after a €350,000 redevelopment scheme.

THE four month project in the district of San Bartolomé has seen the creation of shaded areas, raised sections for planting, new flooring, new trees and the construction of a staged area, following requests from residents.

The Mayor of Orihuela, Emilio Bascuñana, said: “We have worked on every detail to make everything perfect. A park with a play area adapted for both children and the disabled.

“Residents of San Bartolomé can enjoy the new Plaza de la Cruz, of which we can feel very proud.

“We are very satisfied with the result of this work, which will benefit the residents of San Bartolomé. We will continue to strive to improve and provide adequate services in all districts of Orihuela”.

Bascuñana thanked previous mayor, Manuel Ortuño, who came up with the idea with councillor of Pedanías, Víctor Valverde.
