HUNDREDS of residents joined forces to raise more than €4,000 to help meet the social and economic needs of their community during the pandemic. Councillor for Social Services of the Almuñécar Town Hall, María del Carmen Reinoso, this week recognised the work of the collaborators of the website www.almunecar.se over the last few months. Felicia Sánchez Hermansson, Bosse Essén and Ann-Marie Bönström, all residents of Almuñécar and of Swedish nationality, launched various initiatives to raise funds to help address different social and economic needs due to the pandemic. Reinoso said: “Their initiatives managed to raise a total of €4,370, involving the participation of 236 Nordic residents of Almuñécar-La Herradura, both residents and non-residents of our municipality, and whose money was used to pay for food, school materials and children’s clothing.” More than 30 families benefited with 54 children aged between 0 months and 12 years benefited from the aid. Reinoso said the team had collaborated with the town’s social services since the beginning of State of Alarm. “After several years in Almuñécar, the three of them have progressively participated in the life of our town and in other actions such as cleaning up beaches and rivers in our municipality.”
