COVID-19 has interrupted fieldwork at Alcoy’s El Salt paleolithic site. The site is located at the back of the villa where the Alcoy-born poet Juan Gil-Albert spent each summer and excavations have been carried out there every August for more than 30 years. El Salt finds indicate that the site was occupied between 45,000 and 60,000 years ago but although excavations are ruled out, co-director of the project, assisted by three pupils will study and catalogue finds inside Gil-Albert’s villa, which is now municipally-owned.
