CAMPELLO’S Public Health councillor Rafa Galvañ revealed that the town hall is acquiring 45,000 facemasks.

As it will not always be possible for people to maintain the 1.5-metre safety distance required by the “new reality”, masks will be given to all the local population, Galvañ explained.

The town hall now put out to tender a contract to supply 35,000 disposable facemasks for distribution amongst members of the public.

Another 6,000 FFP2 filter facemasks will be acquired for employees of shops and businesses, as these protect users from potential risks, Galvañ said.

A further 4,000 reusable facemasks for children will be sent to local schools once these re-open.

It has yet to be decided how best to distribute the masks, Galvañ admitted, although the town hall has ruled out the door-to-door deliveries that have caused problems in other municipalities.
