Spain’s Ministry of Health Reduces Quarantine Period to 10 Days but Medics Will Have Final Say

The Ministry of Health has reduced the minimum mandatory period of quarantine from 14 days to 10 days, however, medics will still have the last say.

THE Ministry of Health, led by Salvador Illa, has reduced the mandatory minimum quarantine from 14 days to 10, thus complying with the recommendations provided by the World Health Organisation (WHO).

Isolation will be kept for at least three days after the fever has elapsed, however, the minimum period of confinement is 10 days, whereas previously it was 14. Asymptomatic patients will also be required to hold a 10-day quarantine at the least.

The director of the Centre for Coordination of Health Alerts and Emergencies, Fernando Simon, specified that at the end of the minimum 10-day quarantine if the situation is considered unfavourable, this quarantine can be expanded. However, it will be “qualified people from the medical services” who will be in charge of deciding whether they expand or not.
