16-year-old Mila is reported to have called Islam “a sh**ty religion” in an Instagram post that has since gone viral reviving debate in the country about residents’ freedom of speech. The young girl had to change schools and her family were put under special police protection following the incident. Vienne prosecutor Audrey Quey, has stated that three teens one aged 16 and two 17, have now been charged in conjunction with the case after the older pair told investigators that they had discovered Mila’s online information and given it to the 16-year-old. They now face charges of possessing stolen information and theft and possession of stolen data. The youngest alleged culprit was questioned in February and admitted having given out Mila’s online information. He was placed under supervision. It is alleged that a fourth person made death threats against Mila, they were arrested in May. In January, an investigation was abandoned that had originally sought charges against Mila for provoking racial hatred.
