Summer itinerary to encourage social integration after lockdown in Costa Blanca’s Elche

For the first time in Elche a summer programme of activities has been put together to promote personal development and social integration after a long period of confinement due to the coronavirus pandemic.

SOCIAL Rights councillor, Mariano Valera, announced today his department has worked with the Community Revitalisation Service Elx Conviu to put together a series of events for July aimed at people over 18.

“Workshops, walks around the town and online activities will be the entertainment of many people this summer,” he said, adding: “With this initiative we intend to promote personal development and social integration of participants, especially in these times of health crisis in which we find ourselves.”

Valera has stressed that “these activities are a great opportunity to promote social relations in order to help each other.”

The programme will run from July 6 to 30.

The workshops will be held in open spaces with a limited capacity of between 50 and 60 people. They include gymnastics, individual dances, yoga, outdoor painting and zumba.

Walks will be restricted to 20 people.

As for the online activities (gymnastics, yoga, ballroom dancing and psychological sessions), no registration is required to take part, as every Monday a video of each of the classes mentioned will be posted on the municipal website and on elcheconvive’s Facebook account.

Valera added: “The workshops will be developed with the necessary measures of prevention and precaution in place by the Covid-19 pandemic and participants must bring to the classes their own resources such as mats or painting material.”

Anybody interested in taking part in the physical events can register until June 25 by sending a registration form, downloaded from council’s website, to elcheconvive@elche.es.
