ASSISTED SEA-BATHING: Available on La Fustera beach credit: Benissa town hall
LA FUSTERA beach in Benissa has received a double distinction. The beach received its Blue Flag for meeting the exacting standards required by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) and was recognised by the Association for Environmental Education and Consumer Affairs (ADEAC), co-founder of FEE which manages its Spanish programme. La Fustera has received ADEAC’s Thematic Distinction for the excellence of its lifesaving service, making it one of the four safest beaches in Spain, along with Conil de la Frontera (Cadiz), Miramar (Valencia) and Sanxenxo (Pontevedra). The beach’s lifeguards carry out regular rescue drills, are equipped with rapid intervention boat and vehicles and provide an assisted sea-bathing service for those with mobility problems.
