Benidorm’s mayor asks Costas to drop charges for beach concessionaries affected by anti-coronavirus social distancing

BEACH CONCESSIONARIES: Lower takings this summer, credit: Mine

BENIDORM Town Hall will ask Spain’s coastal authority Costas to waive this year’s charges to beach concessionaries.
These must be paid annually by the firms that provide sunbeds, beach umbrellas, pedal boats and, in Benidorm’s case, the Cable Ski installation.
Having to comply with social distancing regulations will entail lower takings, argued Benidorm mayor Toni Perez, and waiving the Costas fee would help to offset concessionaries’ losses.
