Symbolic buildings lit up to mark Murcia’s Day of the Region and pay tribute to frontline workers

Symbolic buildings have been illuminated with green lights to mark Murcia’s Day of the Region today and to pay tribute to those on the frontline battling Covid-19.

THE emblematic Moneo Building, the Almudi Palace, Alfonso X Promenade, the area around Murcia River and the San Esteban archaeological site have all been lit up and will be stay that way for the duration of State of Alarm.

Councillor Jose Guillén said: “We appreciate the work being done by the public services and especially by our health services to ensure the safety of all Murcians.

“The collaboration of the neighbours of our municipality has been fundamental in stopping this difficult situation, and for that reason, today on the Day of the Region of Murcia, we want to recognise the efforts being made, from the smallest to the greatest, demonstrating once again that together we are better.”

Guillén said the initiative pays tribute to all professionals in the health department, cleaning services, maintenance, supplies, security forces, supermarkets, pharmacies and media, “who are working during these weeks in the fight against the Covid-19”.

“A message of thanks also for the exemplary behaviour of the one and a half million citizens of the Region during this health crisis”.
