Asian football has been experiencing a very important period in recent years, especially thanks to the large investments of Chinese companies. To increase the spread of this sport in Asia, the richest clubs have focused on buying very famous footballers from the best European teams who have brought the fans closer to the game.

Very often these worldwide known champions are in the last phase of their career, but their football level is still makes the difference. In addition to those players, several coaches and leading figures from the recent football past have also established themselves on the Asian scene.

The presence of these players on the pitches has contributed to increase enormously the quality of the Asian players themselves who are now playing and facingi World Champions, Champions League winners or award-winning coaches.

Although the quality of Asian footballers is hardly comparable to their European or South American colleagues, some players have managed to emerge over the years, to become staples of the best teams in the world, such as Son for Tottenham or Park Ji-sung in Manchester United, as onlinebettingcodes.co.uk reports.

But which is the Asian team that can be considered the best?

Al Hilal, the most successful team

Although Chinese football is emerging strongly in the continental panorama, it is known that historically the best Asian teams are those coming from the Arab countries. Analyzing data and statistics regarding the most important continental competitions, we find Al Hilal, from Saudi Arabia, winner of seven continental club titles, at the first place. Their success can be compared to the success of the Plymouth Whalers in hockey.

The club has won 3 Asian Champions League, 2 Asian Cup and 2 Asian Super Cup. It is curious to note how the team also holds the record of defeats in Asia Champions League finals: four! In Saudi Arabia they won their championship 15 times, also winning 8 Kings Cups, 13 Crown Prince Cups and 2 Super Cups. Despite being the most successful team in Asia, Al Hilal managed to return to great levels only in 2019, since he hadn’t won a continental trophy for over 10 years.

Suwon Samsung Bluewings, South Korea

In second place within the special ranking provided by, we find the Suwon Samsung Bluewings, a recently founded South Korean team, born in 1995, which boasts 2 Asian Champions League, 1 Asian Cup and 2 Asian Super Cups.

Suwon Samsung Bluewings have not won a continental tournament for more than 10 years and at the moment, despite having a bulletin board full of titles, is no longer considered an Asian superpower, having obtained mediocre results in recent years.

Guangzhou Evergrande, the best team at the moment
