REMODELLING El Molinar port in Palma, interrupted by the Covid-19 crisis, has also held up work on the promenade. Owing to this delay, the Paseo Maritimo will not open to pedestrians until the end of July while the port itself will not be finished until late summer, admitted the Baleares Port Authority (APB). The €3.087 million makeover, which began in March 2019 and is being carried out in several phases, will ultimately improve port operations and adjoining urban areas. Despite the upheaval that is completely transforming the area, residents said they are, overall, happy at the prospect of improvements to access and the pedestrian zone. The APB revealed that rehabilitating the social centre, which formerly housed the Club Maritimo Molinar Levante will be put out to tender later this year. “The future port should be completely finished during 2021,” an APB spokesman told the local Spanish-language media.
