Spain’s Canary Islands Ask that La Gomera, El Hierro and La Graciosa Enter Phase 3 Of De-Escalation Plan

All three islands were the first to move onto phase 1 at the beginning of Spain’s de-escalation process, now the Canary Islands have asked that La Gomera, El Hierro and La Graciosa be the first to move onto Phase 3.

On Monday the Canary Government presented a proposal to the Inter-territorial Health Council for the La Gomera, El Hierro and La Graciosa islands to enter Phase 3 of the de-escalation plan given that they are progressing in a favourable way and have a positive epidemiological evolution.

Alongside Formentera, these three Canary Islands were the first to being the de-escalation process into the ‘new normality’ and so far they have not registered any new deaths from the coronavirus. In La Gomera and El Hierro only 8 and 3 cases have been diagnosed, respectively.
