A GIANT heart has been set up in Paseo Andres Segovia in La Herradura.
It is actually a container for the plastic bottle-tops that are collected for recycling to raise cash for different charities.
“This is a way of encouraging recycling, raises environmental awareness and is, at the same time, a gesture of solidarity,” said deputy mayor Juan Jose Ruiz Joya.
“The Corazon de Tapon also gives a different image to the area and also provides somewhere for residents to deposit the bottle-tops they have collected,” Ruiz Joya added.
Other hearts will be set up in other parts of La Herradura if this first initiative is successful, he said: “And I’m sure that it will, demonstrating that our hearts are as big as the sculpture.”
