UK Covid-19 death toll rises by 164 with England accounting for most fatalities

THE number of coronavirus-related deaths in the UK’s hospitals has risen by 164 in the last 24 hours to put the total at 36,822, according to official figures announced on Sunday.

NHS England confirmed 147 new Covid-19 fatalities since Saturday. The virus has now claimed the lives of 25,691 in English hospitals alone.

There have been another nine deaths in Scotland, bringing the grim tally to 2,270.

Another seven fatalities in Wales pushes the number up to 1,267.

Northern Ireland reported one more death. In all 506 people there have lost their life to the illness.

The official figures including care home and community deaths will be announced later today.
