EL MORCHE: Man affected by lockdown demanded prescription at El Morche health centre, credit: El Morche council
A DRUNK recently insulted and threatened medical staff at the health centre in El Morche (Torrox). The Sindicato Medico union representing health professionals revealed that “an individual who frequently turns up drunk” appeared once again at the centre. Demanding a prescription, and showing signs of breaking under lockdown, he began to “shout, insult and verbally threaten” the administrative staff, nurses and doctors who attended him. “Despite prescribing the medication and attempting to calm him, they had to tolerate the violent attitude of the individual who tried to intimidate a doctor before he left,” the union statement said. Health centre staff alerted the police and the man, who had caused trouble at the centre before, was later detained at his home. “As well as the pressure for doctors fighting in the pandemic front line, health professionals have to suffer aggression when they are working,” the Sindicato Medico lamented.
