Storms and Heavy Rains Due to Pour Over Spain as the Country Suffers its fifth Week on Lockdown

THE fifth week of national confinement will be dominated by heavy rains and storms across the entire country, especially on Wednesday which is set to be the rainiest day of the week.

Starting on Monday, almost the entire nation will experience substantial precipitations. The north-eastern area of Catalonia expects heavier rain as well as Murcia and Valencia, accompanied by hail in the more northern points of the plateau.

This unstable weather will continue tomorrow with rainfall in the north east and centre of the peninsula, especially in the northern areas of Valencia and Murcia, and increasingly in Huelva where the yellow alarm has been raised for the potential of rains which would leave approximately 15 litres of water an hour.

Wednesday will be the rainiest day of the week as Spain expects the arrival of an active Atlantic Front, Del Campo, the spokesperson for the State Meteorological Agency has announced that Andalucia, the Central System (a mountainous range near Madrid), and the Levante area (the region spanning across Murcia to Castellon) will be the areas which experiencing the most rain, whereas Cantabria and the Balearic Islands will barely have any rain.

On Thursday and Friday, the instability will continue as the country will experience scattered showers, however next weekend, an episode of more intense rains with potential storms is expected to fall in the Cantabrian and Mediterranean areas.

Del Campo has outlined that the temperatures experienced so far in this month of spring are expected to stay consistent throughout the peninsula, perhaps increasing a few degrees above the average on the Cantabrian shore; at night, temperatures will drop as a consequence of cloud coverage and temperatures brought from the Atlantic winds.
