Majority of German’s in favour of EU giving cash aid to Spain and Italy – two countries hit hardest by pandemic

THE majority of Germans are in favour of the EU financially supporting Spain and Italy – the two countries hit hardest by the pandemic.

A survey by the ZDF chain shows 68 per cent of Germans think the EU should offer financial aid to both countries.

Voters from all parties are in favour, with the exception of the far-right party, AfD, where just 28 per cent support to the idea.

As the diagram below shows, the parties with the most support are the Grune (85 per cent) and Die Linke (81).
