A grounded British Airways pilot has joined Tesco to become a delivery driver, after finding himself out of work due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Peter Login has been praised for his temporary change in career, as he swaps out a jumbo jet for a delivery van – to drop off groceries to homes during the UK lockdown.
British Airways has grounded all flights at Gatwick and services stripped back at Heathrow airport, while pilots’ wages have been slashed by 50 per cent wage cut for the next three months together with a fortnight of unpaid leave in April and May.
Mr Login tweeted: ‘@British-Airways 747 keys hung up for a while. Back in the cockpit with @Tesco.’

His tweet collected more than 7,000 likes and was received with lots of praise by users.
User Stu Whiteman said: “What an absolute superstar you are. That dogged spirit and can-do, will-do attitude will get us through this, yours is such a great example.
“For everyone else, it’s simple; either help the nation by doing the key work required, or stay at home. Nothing else, just one of those two!”
