Local Police officers in Malaga have arrested a 25-year-old woman as the alleged perpetrator of robbery with intimation. The young woman is accused of having stolen in a supermarket and threatening supermarket staff with a knife.

THE incident occurred at 12.30pm on Friday March 27 in a supermarket in the city centre of Malaga, on Calle Victoria, when the staff confronted the woman in the locker area for staff, a private area in the establishment.

The staff approached her to confront her to which the woman responded by whipping out a knife and threatening them, “you better not come near me,” the staff explained to the police via a statement. Despite this, the workers, who recognised the woman from previous thefts in the supermarket, managed to contain her until the arrival of the Malaga Local Police.

Upon their arrival, officers went up to the woman, who was hiding behind a refrigerator, ordering her to throw away the knife as they noticed she was still carrying it. She abided to the officer’s commands and dropped the weapon.

Local officers proceeded to identify the criminal, whom they already knew due to her extensive criminal history. One of the supermarket staff members checked her bag and found that she was missing €59. The alleged perpetrator claims that she threw the money in the bin when she saw police officers approaching.

The officers were also informed by two other staff members, that the previous day the same woman was in the same place and had stolen €30 and €15 from each of them.

Thanks to the security cameras in the establishment the Local Police could confirm the crimes and subsequently arrested the culprit.
