Italy’s Coronavirus Cases Increased Due To Young Commuters Going Home To Their Families

A Study in Oxford, UK claims that young professionals have unwittingly taken coronavirus home to their elderly families.

The country has a much older population and many live with their parents or grandparents.  Young upwardly mobile professionals who caught the virus in the cities have taken it home.

A study by the University of Oxford has suggested that multiple generations living under the same roofs ‘accelerated’ the spread of COVID-19 in rural Italy.

The country has a large elderly population, 22 percent of people are over 65 and people in that group are known to be more likely to die if infected.

Milan and Lombardy have been the worst hit. Italy has 31,506 cases with no new cases.  There have been a total of 2,503 deaths of which 2,941 have recovered. There are 26,062 active cases in Italy with 2,060 in serious or critical condition.

There are no new deaths reported according to up to the minute Worldometer.  Italy’s drastic measures hopefully are working.
