China Has “Successfully” Developed a Coronavirus Vaccine Ready For Human Testing

China’s Ministry of Defense said in a statement on Tuesday that it had “successfully” developed a vaccine against the new coronavirus. China has now authorized human tests, to test the vaccine’s effectiveness on humans. 

The Chinese Ministry of Defense announces that it has approved human clinical trials of a coronavirus vaccine. Behind this finding is the research team led by epidemiologist Chen Wei of the Military Academy of Medical Research, reporting to the Military Academy of Sciences. This is the first vaccine in the world that has been approved for human clinical trials.

In addition, on Tuesday several Chinese institutions announced that they will launch clinical trials in April.

In total, three new coronavirus drugs have been clinically approved for testing in the country.
