Panicking Swedes stuck in Spain’s isolation: “I’ll do anything to get home!”

The vacation did not turn out as they had hoped. Instead of chilling on the beach, panicking Swedes found themselves in a country in lockdown, with closed beaches, shops and restaurant, prohibited to leave their homes.

“Everything was fine when we arrived last Monday,” says Sara Karlsson, “No one said anything about this. On Thursday, everything broke out!” Sara and her husband came to Torrevieja to celebrate her husband’s birthday, it did not quite go as planned.

Linda Tingstrom is also in Torrevieja. She has tried booking a flight home, but the booking number doesn’t work.

“We would have stayed here in our apartment until April 17. My oldest kids would come down with their grandmother in two weeks. Now we would do anything to come home instead!”

She has no idea how long they will have to stay.
