Mayor Acts to Establish Priorities for Emergency Services in Costa del Sol City Spain

Mayor Muñoz at the emergency services meeting Credit: Marbella Council

ONCE the National State of Alarm was confirmed in Spain, the Mayor of Marbella, Ángeles Muñoz held a meeting with all councillors to discuss the situation and then held a second meeting with emergency bodies.

Those present at the second meeting included representatives of the National Police, Guardia Civil, Local Police, Fire and Civil Protection and covered emergency services as well as the need to ensure that streets were kept clean and that refuse collection continued as normal.

Whilst there are a number of restrictions on public movement, the Marbella Council also wishes to ensure that social rights and health services are protected and there will be limited access to council offices in Marbella, San Pedro, Nueva Andalucia and Las Chapas from 8am to noon by telephone for urgent matters.

There will clearly be some significant problems for those who need financial and social assistance and the council will over the next few days be putting together plans to consider the assistance that it will be able to give and this information will be released as soon as it has been finalised.
