The number of unemployed people in Torremolinos has decreased by a total of 247, in comparison to the previous month of January. From a total of 1,119 people who are currently unemployed, 22.7% have now found employment. This monthly decrease overpasses the registered figures in Benalmadena, who recorded a decrease of 198; Fuengirola with 147; Nerja, with 146; Marbella with 122, and even Malaga city who only recorded a decrease of 113.

This hasn’t just been a record-breaking month for Torremolinos but for the whole of Malaga who has experienced its lowest unemployment numbers since 2015. There has been a consistent decrease in these figures year by year. This is due to an increase in work contracts from local businesses in the area. When looking at age ranges, the majority of those employed (1,122 people) have been between 25 and 44 years old, followed by those above the age of 45 (564 people) and lastly those younger than 25 (262 people).

Given how imminently attractive Torremolinos is to tourists, hospitality has been the biggest sector softening these unemployment figures. The next sectors have been Administrative and Auxiliary services, followed by wholesale and retail trade, Motor vehicle repair, and others.
